Dear Dr. Goldhawk, Tracy and Sheryl,
When I first started treatment at Durham Spinal Decompression Centre, I had difficulty completing the tasks of my very busy landscaping company. I was in pain every second of every day and could not work to my usual capacity. This had gone on for several years until I started treatment at your clinic.
Through continued care and determination along with your clinical expertise, I was gradually able to resume my daily routine. Today I live my life virtually pain free and have no trouble working or enjoying life again.
Thank you for care and dedication to all of us who suffer with back and neck pain.
Sincerely,
Alex Pol
Dear Durham Spinal Decompression Centre,
I’m writing this letter to pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation for treating my herniated disc and vastly improving my quality of life through spinal decompression.
When I started treatment I couldn’t walk for more than 10 minutes and standing was equally painful. With having 2 children, 6 & 8 years old, not being able to be pain free when standing or walking wasn’t an option.
After only 4-5 treatments I could feel the pressure being alleviated from the disc and the radiating leg pain starting to subside. After the entire treatment process I can honestly say with-out hesitation that my back had not felt that good in years.
I did 4, all day trips to Canada’s Wonderland over the course of the summer after receiving treatment. I could even keep up to my 6 & 8 year old which was the greatest result of my receiving decompression treatment.
Sincerely,
Jeff Sawyer
Dear Dr. Goldhawk, Tracy and Sheryl
Thank you all so very much. The treatment has changed my life, but I don’t think it would have been as effective without the kindness and caring of all of you. You have given me back my freedom from pain and also a new outlook on my life. I will definitely recommend this treatment to people because of how great I was treated throughout my treatment. Thank you all for being exactly who you are. You made the experience all the more better.
Thanks again
Lesley Barnes
My name is Lesley and I have been suffering with lower back pain since January of 2010. The pain became so severe down my leg that I could not stand or walk for more than a few minutes at a time. I play a lot of ball in the summer and knew it would be impossible to play with the pain I was experiencing. My scan showed herniated and bulging discs, mild stenosis and degenerative disc disease in my back. I thought my only option was major back surgery, until I heard out about spinal decompression and contacted the Durham Spinal Decompression Centre. I started treatment in March and after a few weeks the pain was lessening and I could get some sort of normalcy back into my life. Doctor Goldhawk, Technicians Sheryl and Tracy kept telling me “one day you will wake up with no pain” and literally……..that is exactly what happened! I can now say that I am pain free and have started strengthen exercises with the determination to be back playing ball next season. The staff at the DSDC are amazing. Their caring and compassionate treatment for each patient is comforting and rewarding. Without their positive attitude and continued encouragement every treatment day, I would have never made it through. I am so happy that I made the right choice and was able to avoid major surgery!
When I first arrived at the Durham Spinal Decompression Centre, I had great difficulty walking.
After 6 treatments I felt as if I was never injured. My major concern now is doing some of the things I used to do and re-injuring my back.
I would highly recommend Dr. Goldhawk’s clinic to anyone.
She and her staff are wonderful and have given me my life back!
Liz
My name is Murray Marling and I suffered from chronic back pain.
I have managed back pain since I was 25 yrs old. Most of my problems stemmed from all my years of contact sports.
Last November 2008 I finally hit a wall. My Chiropractic adjustments accompanied with extensive acupuncture, several times a week, was not helping the excruciating and debilitating pain I was experiencing. I could hardly walk from the house to the car. I had shooting pains all up and down my right leg. I had burning sensations in all areas of my right foot. My right leg was continually numb from the knee down. This was accompanied with a constant hammering type pain in the lower right region of my back and into my right glute muscle.
No position was comfortable including sleeping. I was mentally tired and physically sore all the time.
I was referred to Dr. Fern, the only back specialist in Durham. After a few appointments and an MRI, Dr. Fern advised me my problem was in my lower back area in particular L4 and L5 discs. There was a narrowing of my disc at L5-S1. He advised the safest alternative would be to attend Dr. Goldhawk’s Decompression Clinic in Whitby.
I met with Dr. Goldhawk and her staff, in particular Cheryl and Tracy. I immediately felt comfortable and confident that the treatments on the decompression bed were going to work. I had no other choice at this time because I couldn’t do anything physically and I could still barely walk. I came into the program positively and abided by all the instructions including what I could or couldn’t do physically including diet.
After the first 2 weeks (10 treatments) I was actually getting sleep without interruption. My pain level subsided considerably. I began to do minor physical chores without pain. The constant pain in my Glute muscle was now less and during the treatments began to notice the numbness subside along with the burning sensations in my foot. My dream was to get back on the ice and skate with my grandchildren.
It is now October 2009 and I have actively been refereeing ice hockey since April this year. I have not come close to the debilitating situation I found myself in this time last year. I still maintain once a month maintenance at the clinic and I exercise everyday. I am enrolled in pilates because a strong stomach helps a weak back. I have maintained my diet and am proud to say I started the program at 243 lbs. and am now 223 lbs.
Thanks to the Durham Spinal Decompression Centre I have my life back. They taught me to be more in tune with my back and make sensible decisions on a day to day basis. I feel healthier now than I ever have, and by the way, I am now 54 yrs old.
My name is Eileen, and I have been living with low back pain. The chronic pain I endured was debilitating, and that is not good as I work as an electrician to make a living. I don’t know which was worse, the endless days and nights of pain, or the stiffness. I finally had yet another MRI, only to find out that I now have 3 herniated discs in my lumbar spine, not one as previously though. Dr. Goldhawk and her staff have treated me on their state of the art decompression machine. The care I have been receiving is second to none. It is not just the physical care at this wonderful centre, but the staff REALLY care for you overall. I am still a relatively young woman and let me tell you that the sciatica pain and stiffness in my spine is gone. I would advise anyone dealing with chronic back pain like I was to check into spinal decompression before they commit to spinal surgery: hey, it’s working for me!

I initially injured my back at eighteen years of age. I am now 68 years old and since that time I have constantly sought relief through chiropractic treatment and deep muscle therapy, as well as pain medication when I was desperate. More and more I was heading toward life in a wheelchair and already use them when at airports when travelling. I have not slept for more than two hours at a time for the last ten years. Immediately after my first treatment, I was walking straighter and I slept through the night without medication. I am very excited about this treatment.

Nineteen months after a car accident I had a lot of back and sciatic pain. Physiotherapy and massages helped somewhat. I couldn’t stand any longer than 10 minutes without severe pain and could only walk about ½ block. Since my first treatment of “Spinal Decompression” I immediately started feeling such relief that I’m hoping to be able to return to “Lawn Bowling” and walking. I haven’t had to take any pain pills since I started the treatment. I am completely free of back pain. I can now get a pain free night’s sleep, Hooray.

I am a 21 year old student who was in a lot of pain. I was scheduled for surgery within the week of me coming to visit the Durham Spinal Decompression Centre. In the first couple of treatments, I was in more pain, but after the 11th treatment I started to notice changes. I was finally able to sleep and was able to sit down during lectures in class. This has been the only thing that has worked and I recommend it to those who have back pain.
